Spot the difference
September 20, 2006 at 8:02 pm | In family | 10 CommentsMy family discovered an old picture of me from around April 1980. I think I was going for the Travis Bickle look, but forgot to spike it up:

This is Erin circa Christmas 2005:

The pictures might not show it, but she is the spitting image of me. A lot prettier, mind you.
As my Grandad said, at least we don’t need to worry about whether or not I’m her father. Cheers for that, Grandad.

But cute.

God Lord, I could kiss her face off.
Yours? Looks like you were concentrating on making a doodie or somethin’.
(still a cutie pie though!)

Looks like your mom lovingly brushed that baby hair into lovely swirl waves across your forehead.
Erin is beautiful and yes, you could be twins.

Jesus, did you ever look like the monobrowed baby from The Simpsons…
Luckily, Erin has elegant face accessories and a far more cherubic expression.

Oh – what is corbed? I like that you corbed me – I just want to understand the corbing.

drm: I admit, I sometimes bite her cheeks. They are very chompable.
laurie: To this day, I’m not a photo person. I always look like a cunt in them.
HDW: Yeah, I am so glad she’s got her mother’s good looks. Chances are I probably was taking a dump at the time.
steph: It’s cool, old folk have license to say whatever they want. My grandad takes full advantage. Bless him. And yeah, she is!
Debbie: they used to be even bigger. For a while we were calling her the Michelin Baby.
jali: I think she even used to curl it. I’m surprised I’m not gay(er).
TSL: LMAO! I did kinda look like that little bastid, didn’t I! Cherub is a good word for Erin.
jali: The Swearing Lady may attest to the use of this word…or maybe not, she’s a few years younger than me, so I don’t know if the youth are hip to us old cats’ lingo.
What the shite am I talking about? Oh yeah….corbed. It’s just a Galway-ism for caught. A typical Galway lad in the early ’90’s (when I was cool) may say something like “Byes, byes, that fien who shifted that beure got corbed by the shades!”
Translation: “Gentlemen! Gentlemen! The chap who kissed that lady has been caught (and likely arrested) by the police!”
Word.
